David Malouf to open the Festival
Award winning and Internationally acclaimed writer David Malouf will deliver the opening address of the 2018 Australian Short Story Festival to be held over the weekend of 19 – 21 October at the Centre for Stories, Northbridge.
Included in the program are some of Australia’s most exciting short story writers – Roanna Gonsalves, Jennifer Down, Laura Elvery, Anthony Macris, M.J. Reidy, Rafeif Ismail, Elizabeth Tan, H.C. Gildfind, Yvonne Fein, Julia Prendergast and Luke Johnson. Award-winning writer Maria Takolander will deliver the Closing Address.
Pre-festival workshops will be run by Roland Leach, Susan Midalia, Amanda Curtin and Michael Abercromby. The weekend program is jam-packed with engaging discussions between writers and performances by professional actors, storytellers and musicians celebrating the short form. Festival venues include the Alex Hotel, Gallery Central at North Metropolitan TAFE and the City of Perth Library. Events run from 19 – 21 October, in what will be a culturally diverse and vibrant celebration of storytelling in the shorter form.
