The Director of the 2024 Australian Short Story Festival is Susan Midalia. The author of three short story collections (A History of the Beanbag, An Unknown Sky and Feet to the Stars), a flash fiction collection (Miniatures) and two novels (The Art of Persuasion and Everyday Madness), Susan’s work has been shortlisted for the Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards and the Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards. She has also been a freelance editor, literary competition judge and writing mentor, and has a long involvement with the Australian Short Story Festival.
The other members of the WA Organising Committee are Natalie Hug, Sarah McNeill, Josephine Taylor, Bindy Pritchard and Brooke Dunnell. The 2024 intern is the University of Notre Dame third-year student Aliyah Fedec.
