A Sneak Peek at the 2023 ASSF Program
The Australian Short Story Festival is excited to offer a sneak peek of the list of authors and storytellers invited to the festival in November 2023. Audiences can expect a star-studded lineup of short story veterans and newcomers alike, offering panels, workshops, readings, discussions and debates across four full days from the 9th to the 12th of November at the Fullarton Park Community Centre in Adelaide’s beautiful City of Unley.
Beloved Australian short story veterans Cate Kennedy (author of Like a House on Fire and Dark Roots) and Tony Birch (Dark As Last Night) will return to the festival in 2023. An exciting new short fiction collection from the author of The Animals in That Country, Laura Jean McKay, will see the award-winning storyteller in Adelaide for the festival, along with Mirandi Riwoe, author of the highly-praised 2022 collection Burnished Sun.
The Australian Short Story festival is also excited to be hosting a suite of international storytellers from Europe, America and India, including American fiction writer Robin McLean (Get ‘Em Young, Treat ‘Em Tough, Tell ‘Em Nothing) and Norwegian-based writer and poet Allen C. Jones, who will celebrate the November release of his 2023 short fiction collection Big, Weird, Lonely Hearts with ASSF.
