Ali Alizadeh’s book of short stories, Transactions (UQP, 2013) was described as ‘haunting’, ‘hilarious’, ‘brutal’, ‘urgent’, ‘infuriating’ and ‘remarkable’, and was longlisted for the Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award. His short stories since have appeared in Review of Australian FictionGriffith Review and Overland. He is a senior lecturer in literary studies and creative writing at Monash University, and his latest books include a work of philosophy,Marx and Art (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019) and a collection of poems, Towards the End (Giramondo, 2019). He also the author of novels such as The Last Days of Jeanne d’Arc (Giramondo, 2017) and The New Angel (Transit Lounge, 2008).
