Carol’s short stories are published in six Cairns Tropical Writers anthologies. Her work regularly featured on the ABC Open website and was recorded for radio. Her short film, Patrolling the North, has been featured on ABC Television.
Carol’s first attempt at playwriting saw her play Angusshort-listed for the Short & Sweet Festivals in Brisbane, Sydney and Singapore.
As a journalist, Carol was commissioned to write the 50-year history of the Ellis Beach Surf Lifesaving Club in Cairns, which was published in 2007.
Carol is a past-president of the Cairns Tropical Writers committee that set up the inaugural Cairns Tropical Writers Festival in 2008, which has grown to attract a national and international audience.
For several years, Carol represented Cairns as liaison officer for the Queensland Writers Centre and sat on the Queensland’s Regional Writers Reference Committee.
Currently, courtesy of a Regional Arts Development Grant, Carol is interviewing and working on a creative non-fiction book that traces the growth of Cairns from small sugar town to vibrant multicultural city.
