Wayne Macauley is a Melbourne writer whose short fiction has been published in numerous magazines and journals. He is a former winner of The Age Short Story Competition and his 2010 collection, Other Stories, was shortlisted for a Queensland Premiers Literary Award. He has also published six novels: Blueprints for a Barbed-Wire Canoe,Caravan Story,The Cook, Demons, Some Testsand, most recently, Simpson Returns. His novels have been critically acclaimed and shortlisted for: the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award (twice), the Western Australian Premier’s Book Award, the Melbourne Prize Best Writing Award and the Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature. Some Testswas longlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. Wayne was recently the recipient of a six-month Australia Council residency at the Keesing Studio, Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris and has also worked extensively in the theatre over many years as a writer and dramaturg.
